A road toward rock glory was begun by Pink Floyd fifty-eight years ago. "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn," their legendary debut album, set the stage for the band's subsequent masterpieces and iconic records, such as "Dark Side of the Moon," "Wish You Were Here," "Animals," and "The Wall." Considered to be one of the best of the best bands in the world, Pink Floyd's contribution and influence to the music world is undeniable. Their induction to the Grammy Hall of Fame is a testament to this fact. In addition, three of their albums—"Dark Side of the Moon," "Wish You Were Here," and "The Wall"—subsequently became the best-selling albums of all time.
Great bands deserve incredible celebrations, hence the formation of the tribute band Brit Floyd for the legendary band. The person behind its creation is long-time Pink Floyd fan Damian Darlington. Darlington started listening to the band's music at 13 when "The Wall" came out. Since then, he has not stopped following the band. When he came of age, he also began performing with bands that covered popular songs. This led him to create a cover band focused mainly on Pink Floyd music. This became the Australian Pink Floyd show, which commenced their performances in 1994.
It took nearly two decades before he decided to organize Brit Floyd "simply because he felt he could do it one better." Many of his band members transferred to the freshly made tribute band and began touring. In more than ten years, the tribute band has performed around the world. Slowly but surely, they began earning the title of the best Pink Floyd tribute band. In the beginning, they gained the privilege of working with Pink Floyd's touring band. They then received the opportunity to perform live with the former band members themselves. Guy Pratt and Scott Page, Pink Floyd's bassist and rhythm guitarist, played with them on some of their shows.
This April 14, Brit Floyd will perform at the Johnny Mercer Theatre. If you are a fan of Pink Floyd, see this show, and you will be impressed. Grab your tickets now.
